How To Make Time For God During The Busyness of Life

Image
Wow! I've been so busy with school and other activities that  I haven't blogged in almost two months... a HUGE topic of my blog today.             Before I get into my post, I wanted to  give a final update on the results of my Lenting. My giving up portion of Lent went very well. I had a few "mini Easters" along the way (which are totally acceptable) but overall I did a pretty good job with my fasting. Now that Lent is over and I have gone over 40 days resisting the urge to eat sugary, delicious desserts and candies, I actually do not have the desire to constantly eat these unhealthy things.            Now for the doing portion of Lent I did not do so well on. I was supposed to write a letter to someone who inspired me every day or every other day of Lent. I think I wrote a total of one letter the entire 40 days... Oops! I will most likely ...

Changing Life

One of the greatest things I think I've ever heard is that YOU can't change someone's life. God has to do that. No matter how hard you try to convince them to be better, God is the One who decides if it happens or not. He has to open up their heart to what you are saying. God may choose you to be the deliverer of His Word to them or He may have a better idea to open their eyes to the Truth. Whether it's your best friend, your boyfriend, or someone else, you can't change their ways unless God has it in His plan for them.      You can try all you want, but after a while of spending time with them, their unholiness will start to take over your life instead. While you may want to be the light for them, their darkness is slowly putting out your fire. You're getting contaminated by them.      So even if they are your boyfriend or best friend, it's time to take a break from them. If they aren't living for God they are probably holding you bac...

New Year, New Me..?

Well it's time to close 2014 and open the new year. This year has been one of the most emotional, eye-opening, and unforgettable years of my life. I've learned so much from everything I've been through. It's been a rough year, but I don't regret any of it and I wouldn't want it any other way. Without all the struggles, I wouldn't have made all the realizations.      As the new year begins, I'm taking all these things into consideration as I plan to make better decisions and have a better mindset. I am not obligated to be who I was. I want to live for Jesus and I'm aware that I will have people trying to pull me away from that. Friends support growth and anyone who tries to bring me down is obviously not my friend. God has so much in store for me and for you. I'm not going to lower my standards to keep temporary people in my life anymore. If I can't honor God with them, they serve no purpose in my life.      There are many habits I need...

Inspiration Is Everywhere

As I open my journal to begin writing, the first page has a quote. "Inspiration is everywhere." I'm not really sure why, but this topic seemed harder for me to write about. There are inspiring things all around us, whether we notice it or not. Sometimes we look over them, sometimes we grab hold of them, and sometimes they grab hold of us without us even noticing.      Inspiration comes in many forms. It comes in books, music, movies, TV shows, YouTube videos, quotes, pictures; it's literally everywhere! However, there is good inspiration and bad inspiration. Some examples of good would be giving back to others like in Toms commercials, uplifting quotes you see on Pinterest, and songs with good messages. Some bad inspiring things would include explicit language in movies and songs, the idea that putting others down will lift you higher, and TV shows where murders are gotten away with and stealing is acceptable. Things like this get in our heads and wit...

Be The Good

"Who am I really telling this to?” I ask myself as I send a text saying they “seriously need to rethink their relationship with God.” As I journey through the tough teenage years, I sometimes find myself less in touch with the Word and more in touch with the world. High school is a difficult place to build a strong relationship. With anyone honestly. There’s so much distraction. Temptation, gossip, relationships, even school work; it all distracts from what’s really important. Taking difficult classes and trying to keep my grades up along with all of my extracurricular activities I find it harder and harder as I get older to keep my faith strong. I have very little time to study His Word besides at church and youth group.       Every summer I go to church camp(s) and it always lights a little fire it my soul. It usually lasts until about the time school rolls around and then the fire slowly dies out. My biggest problem is that I always try to c...

Make The World A Little Kinder.

So I've been thinking about blogging for a while now, but I wanted to wait until I got my own computer to do it. So here I am, blogging, on my MacBook Air I got for Christmas. I haven't really decided where I'm gonna go with this yet but I think that's okay.      I've been reading Jordan's blogs ( jordannicoleterry.blogspot.com ) a lot lately, and they just sort of inspire me to write and blog and live a little. Recently I bought a journal I had thought about writing blog ideas in from World Market. It has little pages with quotes throughout it and I've decided whenever I get to each one of those, I will write about it. Now these aren't exactly Bible based quotes but that's what I'm going to make of them.      So here goes the first one. On the front cover reads "make the world a little kinder." That's what I'm here to do. With God's help, I'm on the road to spreading His Word and making the world a better place. ...
